Of course, always need to include a picture of Luke the Cute! Here he is sitting up like a big boy eating beanie-weenies with a bowl and spoon. Yeah Luke!Friday, September 11, 2009
Friday @ 4pm
Well, we made it through another long week! After a fun three-day weekend, David awoke on Tuesday morning with a fever. David was sick for Tuesday through Thursday, missing days 9-11 of the school year, while we juggled our schedules. Finally, David was well enough to go to school this morning, Luke to daycare, and both parents to work. I picked the kids up early and David fell asleep on the way home. He is still snoozing on the couch (50 minute nap already) even after Luke threw his sippy cup at him!
Of course, always need to include a picture of Luke the Cute! Here he is sitting up like a big boy eating beanie-weenies with a bowl and spoon. Yeah Luke!

David's First Day of Kindergarten
We had a momentous week with David's first day of kindergarten on Wednesday. We had been getting up early to meet the bus on Monday and Tuesday mornings to prepare for the big day. On Tuesday night, I told David we would meet the bus and then we would follow the bus to school. He let me know that he was riding the bus to school at which point I started to argue with him that I wanted to take him. He said, "Mom, you got to let little kids do their own thing." So he rode the bus to school and Luke and I followed. I found him waiting outside his classroom - all excited and ready to go. He had a great first day and week of kindergarten and is looking forward to returning on Monday. Enjoy the pictures!

First thing in the morning - awake and dressed.
Getting on the school bus!
Waiting outside his classroom.
Meeting new friends in his "cool classroom."

Just Smiley Luke!!
I have been trying my best to get pictures of Luke's front teeth. He has four - two on the top and two on the bottom, but I cannot seem to get a shot with all four visible. Plus you need to tickle him and make him laugh to see them. He gnashes his teeth together sometimes and also likes to chomp down on things (like fingers & spoons).

Even though Luke & David look similar, their personalities are differently different. Luke is mellow and smiley, but already getting sneaky! Some mornings I find him sitting or standing in bed just smiling at me pleasantly. Even the ladies at daycare remark that he doesn't cry much at all and when he does you better pay attention.

Easter morning
On Easter morning, David kept asking when the Easter Bunny was coming because there were no baskets nor eggs hidden in the house. After awhile he found the empty baskets by the door to the back patio and then figured out that the Easter Bunny had hidden everything outside.
He spent time finding the various toys & candies left for him, including little piles of jelly beans placed all around the pool! Luke enjoyed his new truck and rubber duckies as well!! (One of my favorite pictures!)

Easter Eggs
Once again, we performed the time-honored tradition of dyeing Easter eggs on the Saturday of Easter weekend. Brent and David have devised a few different methods to get interesting looking eggs - like cracking them ahead of time, rolling them in rock salt and putting one egg in all the colors with different decorating in between each plunge. This year, David managed to dye his hands again, but at least his shirt didn't look dyed and we didn't have any major spills.

Eggstravaganza!
The boys' preschool hosts a large egg hunt which we attended the Saturday of Easter weekend. David had fun collecting eggs & candy that was strewn across the ground. They also had carnival games, a small petting zoo and tons more activities for the kids. Plus they got to meet the O2B Kids Bunny! Check out Luke's delight!!

1 tired mom, 2 sick kids & 3 cups of coffee
Sorry there have not been any recent posts. I promise it is on my "to-do" list (somewhere on page 5 or 6). We certainly have been busy lately and I have lots of great pictures and stories to share. Right now, I am waiting for Brent to come home so I can go to work. He took yesterday off to stay home with Luke. We were up a lot last night with both David and Luke with a stomach bug. This morning, he managed to go in to work early while I stayed home with the kids. Three cups of coffee and a long hot shower later I am headed for work for the afternoon-evening and hopefully will get some rest tonight or tomorrow. I thought about staying home today and then working tomorrow but it looks like someone will need to be home with sick kids tomorrow as well.
Well, more to come ... for now here is a cute recent picture of David & Luke ("Momma, can I nurse Luke?").

Another new trick!
On Wednesday Feb 25th, Luke started a new trick - sticking his tongue out (at us). At first we thought it was pretty cute, but then Brent started to get offended that Luke was sticking his tongue out at him so much. On Friday March 6th we figured out why when Luke popped out his first tooth on his right upper gum. No pictures of the tooth so far, but we are working on it.

Uh-Oh!
A few weeks ago I discovered Luke in a few precarious positions. He had managed to pull himself up in both his bassinet and crib, so we have since dropped the mattresses to the lower level in both. A few days later, he pulled up onto all fours. Then only a few days after that started to crawl -- now he is fast and constantly moving. Nothing is safe! A few things have been moved, the outlets covered and the pool fence installed!

Luke's First Boo-boo
A couple weeks ago, Luke had his first boo-boo and received his first band-aid. David's rendition: "Mommy kicked Luke!" (First thing he said when we walked into the baby room at daycare.) Mommy's rendition: "I was walking in front of Luke as he was sitting up and fell forward onto my foot. My toenail scraped his forehead but my foot caught him from doing a faceplant!" Needless to say, Luke was smiling about it a few minutes after it happened.

Birthday Party #4
We decided to celebrate David's birthday on Saturday March 7th right after lunch so that he could enjoy his presents for the remainder of the weekend. Mommy made her version of a volcano cake (mmmm... chocolate cake). David was so thrilled with all of his presents, especially his new backpack and lunch bag which he packed up and stashed in the car so he would be ready for school on Monday. Luke fell asleep despite all of David's excitement.
