Blizzard Blog 2011 #6

Cute kid pictures part II:
#1 - My big kid preparing to go outside in the "lizzard" as David puts it.
#2 & 3 - Luke all bundled up to go outside in the "lizzard."
#4 & 5 - Luke just chilling in front of a movie this morning.

David has pretty much been stuck in front of his DS or the Wii most of the time - kinda boring pictures if you ask me!

Well, that's all for me for now. Signing off until next time - snow is expected again on Saturday and also maybe Monday too!! Plus, who knows how long school & daycare will be closed. I'm already on day #5 of being home since Luke was sick on Monday.

Mmmm... homemade mac'n'cheese for lunch!

Cute kid pictures:

#1 & 2: The boys had fun playing in an indoor fort that started with Luke's spaceship and evolved. Plus I got my one good picture of both boys for the day.

#3: After playing in the snow, David insisted he was hot and was only going to wear shorts for the rest of the day. We talked him into putting his shirt on before dinner.

#4: Luke posing for the camera.

#5: Luke's self-portrait (He got a hold of the camera and must have taken at least 2 dozen random pictures yesterday.)

Yesterday around 2pm the boys and Brent were outside playing in the snow. First, Brent & David had to dig a path for them to walk - there was 10-12 inches of snow to shovel. David shoveled out the entrances to the igloo in the frontyard. Brent trudged in the street with Luke and then put him down. He crawled into the igloo for a brief time. Finally, Luke came inside because he was "too cold." He fell asleep very quickly once warmed up!

David came in a little while later and said, "Mom, it is like a lizard out there!" I asked if he meant "blizzard." And he said, "Oh yeah, it is like a blizzard!"

Feb 2 - the day after
Yesterday, I started having trouble with internet connection - I suppose it was the fact that everybody was stuck at home and utilizing their bandwith on the internet and with movies.

I have added 3 pictures for this morning. The official amount of snow for Columbia was 17 inches, but I think we may have received a little more than that.

Brent and the boys went out to play yesterday afternoon. Brent spent over an hour shoveling out the driveway at that time, but you cannot tell the difference today.

More pictures to follow...

10:10am - Brent returned home around 9am, much to my relief. The snow has started to fall quickly now and the roads are covered. We managed to peel David away from his DS long enough to eat breakfast. Luke has been playing with his spaceship that he gets to decorate.

I figured out why the bird is hanging out in our tree. It is right next to another tree covered in berries that she is eating to stay warm.

08:20am - The boys & I are home with school & daycare closed. Brent went to work early to get some stuff done. This is definitely a day when I pull the "SoCal city girl" routine in regards to even going outside. Here are a few pictures from inside our house. Note the female robin just hanging out in the tree in our front yard.

Friday @ 4pm

Well, we made it through another long week! After a fun three-day weekend, David awoke on Tuesday morning with a fever. David was sick for Tuesday through Thursday, missing days 9-11 of the school year, while we juggled our schedules. Finally, David was well enough to go to school this morning, Luke to daycare, and both parents to work. I picked the kids up early and David fell asleep on the way home. He is still snoozing on the couch (50 minute nap already) even after Luke threw his sippy cup at him!

Of course, always need to include a picture of Luke the Cute! Here he is sitting up like a big boy eating beanie-weenies with a bowl and spoon. Yeah Luke!
