Meet Baby Aurora

Aurora Therese was born very early in the morning on Friday November 21, 2008. Proud parents are Andrew and Angie.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and welcome to the family little one!

We are Thankful!

Whew - I almost missed blogging for the entire month of November. Life has been a whirlwind and it probably won't slow down until after the holidays. Hope you enjoy the pictures from this month!

Here is a little update on all the things we are thankful for this year:
- our healthy baby boy Luke
- big brother David
- new home in Florida
- selling our house in Missouri (Yeah - the day before Turkey day!!)
- finishing school & residency

- Surprise "pachicks" in the mail (David's term for packages)

Meet Baby Seth

Here is a picture of Seth Michael! Born 10/25/08 and already dressed for his 1st halloween. Seth is really cute. Both Brent and I think he looks a lot like David and Luke.

Happy 3 Months Luke & Happy Birth Day Seth!

Happy Birth Day to Seth Michael born to Karen & Mike today (10/25 his due date) at 9:44am. Seth weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and looks cute by the picture I got on my phone. I will post a picture when I get one. Congratulations Karen & Mike on the birth of your son (and my first nephew)!!

Hope you enjoy the video of Luke - now 3 months old!! He much prefers to sit up rather than lie down. He has moved into the 3-6 months sized clothes and size 2 diapers. You can already tell a big difference between his baby pictures and current. He still resembles David a lot, but there are a few differences - he sucks his thumb at times, wrings his hands (living up to the middle name Harris I guess), and is a bit more mellow than David.

Wow! What a Saturday!

Our Saturday started out with David and Luke playing in the living room. David built a fort of blankets and pillows around Luke's floor gym which successfully kept Luke entertained.
Late in the morning, we went to the Butterfly Fest at the Florida Museum of Natural History on UFL campus. David dressed up as a butterfly and was part of the pollination parade.
We were able to watch the release of about 50 Monarch butterflies - a beautiful site to see. One butterfly landed on David's head for a short time.
After naps at home and dinner, we took the kids to the Spooktacular at the main preschool facility. It was much bigger than we expected with carnival areas for different age groups, a haunted house (we didn't go in - hard enough keeping David out of our bed), a bouncy thing, smores, and lots more. David went as Superman. It is hard to tell if he is taking off or landing in this picture!
Luke was cute in a pumpkin costume made by Grandma Terri.

Meet Baby Luke

As I was downloading the video camera, I found the first video of Baby Luke meeting the family and of his protective big brother David! Hope you enjoy the video.

Look -- No training wheels!!

We had another milestone today! Brent removed the training wheels from David's bike and away David went. They spent a few hours outside late this afternoon riding around the driveway and then out in the cul-de-sac. Brent said David was so tired by the end that he could barely stay on the bike. He will sleep sound tonight. Hope you enjoy the video of one of David's first rides!

Here are pictures from Luke's first 2 days at daycare last Monday & Tuesday (with David). He caught a cold by the end of the week and has been battling it all week. Finally, David dressed up for superhero day at school. The picture brings to mind the story of Zion going through the airport dressed as Spiderman - mask and all!

The Box!

We received a surprise package in the mail this week from the Huzar family. As the package was being opened, Brent said that he thought it was for him. David responded with a very loud "No, this package is MINE!" It was like Monster David had emerged from our child.





David loved all the toys that he found in the box and spent the next HOUR running around the living room, jumping off furniture and battling all the bad guys he could find, including his daddy when he tried to steal The Box.




Of course, we had lots of fun watching him play and laughing at his excitement. With each new item, he sent out another shriek of joy (he screams like a girl). You would have thought it was Christmas morning! We finally took the box away for him to go to bed and stowed it away so he would not be distracted. The first words out of his mouth the next morning was, "Where's my box, Daddy?"

Happy 2 months!

Sorry that it has been so long since my last update -- we have had a lot going on! Luke turned 2 months old on Sept 25th and received his shots to celebrate. He threw up all over me in the doctor's office after receiving his oral rotavirus vaccine -- Yuck! A good reason for mommy to go shopping for a new shirt!



Mommy started back to work officially on October 1st. I had 2 days of shadowing before my first day. I was supposed to start out slow, but I had 2 ICU admissions in the 1st hour. If this is slow, then I am worried! David has adjusted well to the early morning awakenings to go to school. Luke did fine as well, but is already battling his first cold this weekend.






Daddy has been busy with work and working outside the house. Last weekend, he mowed across a very large subterranean wasps nest. First, he flooded it with the hose for a few hours; the wasps survived. Then he doused it with 2 cans of wasp spray; they survived. Then he poured 3 large pots of boiling water down the nest; the wasps were still there the next morning. Then, he lit a bonfire on top of the nest and kept pouring fuel on until he fried them to a crisp; the wasps were back the next morning. Finally, a critter (he thinks an armadillo) has joined his cause and dug out the nest to eat the wasps. I guess armadillos like BBQ wasps!



David & Brent found another snake today! This one is a hatchling black racer snake and NOT poisonous. Brent caught it in the small cooler and brought it INSIDE while he was surfing the net trying to figure out what kind it is. When I said this was snake #2, he corrected me and said he accidentally weed-whacked a snake just like this one last weekend. So I guess that means 3 snakes in less than 2 months of living here in Florida. Anyone want to come visit??

Weekend Do-Over

The weekend started out on a fun note -- all the boys playing with Luke's floor gym!
I wanted to show off Luke in his kangaroo onesie that Brent brought back from his trip to Australia earlier this year. So we had the grand idea for this weekend to paint David's bedroom. By his request, he wants a spaceship-themed room. Of course, I was multi-tasking and threw a load of laundry in the wash -- leading to flooding the laundry room from an overflowing washing machine for the third time for me now (just ask my mother-in-law! I flooded her house twice in the first 6 months of marriage.) After getting that mess cleaned up, Brent spilled the gallon of blue paint on the platform bed and carpet in David's room. Check out the blue spot -- took 5 hours to clean up!
This afternoon, I found a live coral snake (venomous) swimming around our pool. After multiple phone calls to Brent, he agreed to come home early to remove it from the pool before we pick up David from preschool. I still have the heebie-jeebies knowing that thing is swimming in my pool!!

LaChua hike

We took David & Luke on our first hike in Florida today. It was supposed to be a short 3-mile round trip hike, but due to unforeseen circumstances, had an additional 2 miles added for a 5 mile hike! The trail is reported to have "hundreds of alligators" along the way. Note all of the signs warning of the dangers of alligators. You literally walk along a path along some lakes and swamps in Paynes Prarie, a state park just on the south end of town. Luckily we did see about 3-4 alligators - 2 of which are in this one photo; 1 in the water swimming and 1 on the far bank of the water. David was thrilled! No worries though we all made it back to the van safe and soggy due to a surprise rainstorm that soaked all of us, except for Baby Luke in his carrier. Luke slept for the bulk of the hike and both kids fell asleep on the way home, so we had a quiet afternoon!

Another Day

Last night Luke took his first bath in the bathtub with David. Luke really seemed to enjoy the warm water with lots of kicking. David also had lots of fun with his brother in the bathtub. Of course, after the bath, Luke was wrapped up in his Silly Pooh bathrobe and fell asleep on the couch. He slept for a good 3 hours before waking up, so I tried it again tonight!!

Today was "Gator Day" at David's preschool. Unfortunately, we had no "gator" clothes so we put him in blue and orange clothes (Go Valhalla Norsemen!) and his Gator hat from Grandpa. He decided to leave the gator hat at home, but was at least willing to take a picture with it.
My sweet boys -- David just loves taking pictures with his baby brother Luke. He also likes rubbing his head, because it is so soft. He has a knack for waking up Luke as well, a habit I am trying hard to break.
Luke was really mad today while in his carseat. David in trying to soothe him decided he needed a baby kangaroo to go along for the ride. Luke did not notice the kangaroo and the kangaroo did not seem to mind Luke screaming.

August Update

As the month of August is almost over and I started this blogspot before the 4th of July, I think it is about time for me to add my first post.

Our family has definitely seen a lot of changes in the last month. Luke was born on the evening of July 25th. He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. Both Mammo Sarah and Grandma Terri were present for his birth, and everyone said he looked just like David when he was born. It was like having twins 4 years apart. He just had his 1-month birthday and is doing great! David has adjusted well to the new role of "big brother." He likes to hold Luke and argues about wanting to feed him a bottle. He wonders when Luke will be big enough to play Jedis and Legos.

Exactly two weeks after Luke's birth, we packed up our house and moved from Missouri to Gainesville, Florida for Brent's new position. A week later, we experienced tropical storm Fay but did not have the amount of rain that has been shown on the news. This week, things have settled down. Brent started his new job 4 days after our arrival here in Florida. David started a new preschool the following Monday. Both seem to be adjusting to the new surroundings well and love spending time in our pool almost daily
