David's First Day of Kindergarten

We had a momentous week with David's first day of kindergarten on Wednesday. We had been getting up early to meet the bus on Monday and Tuesday mornings to prepare for the big day. On Tuesday night, I told David we would meet the bus and then we would follow the bus to school. He let me know that he was riding the bus to school at which point I started to argue with him that I wanted to take him. He said, "Mom, you got to let little kids do their own thing." So he rode the bus to school and Luke and I followed. I found him waiting outside his classroom - all excited and ready to go. He had a great first day and week of kindergarten and is looking forward to returning on Monday. Enjoy the pictures!

First thing in the morning - awake and dressed.

Getting on the school bus!
Waiting outside his classroom.
Meeting new friends in his "cool classroom."

Just Smiley Luke!!

I have been trying my best to get pictures of Luke's front teeth. He has four - two on the top and two on the bottom, but I cannot seem to get a shot with all four visible. Plus you need to tickle him and make him laugh to see them. He gnashes his teeth together sometimes and also likes to chomp down on things (like fingers & spoons).

Even though Luke & David look similar, their personalities are differently different. Luke is mellow and smiley, but already getting sneaky! Some mornings I find him sitting or standing in bed just smiling at me pleasantly. Even the ladies at daycare remark that he doesn't cry much at all and when he does you better pay attention.

Feeding Time

David always asks to help take care of Luke. One evening while I was working late, he offered to help feed him dinner. I am uncertain how much food got into Luke's mouth versus on his face as well as who really won the battle for control of the spoon!

Easter morning

On Easter morning, David kept asking when the Easter Bunny was coming because there were no baskets nor eggs hidden in the house. After awhile he found the empty baskets by the door to the back patio and then figured out that the Easter Bunny had hidden everything outside.

He spent time finding the various toys & candies left for him, including little piles of jelly beans placed all around the pool! Luke enjoyed his new truck and rubber duckies as well!! (One of my favorite pictures!)

Easter Eggs

Once again, we performed the time-honored tradition of dyeing Easter eggs on the Saturday of Easter weekend. Brent and David have devised a few different methods to get interesting looking eggs - like cracking them ahead of time, rolling them in rock salt and putting one egg in all the colors with different decorating in between each plunge. This year, David managed to dye his hands again, but at least his shirt didn't look dyed and we didn't have any major spills.

Meet the Animals!

At the carnival, Brent stood in line for quite a while so the boys could meet the animals, including a baby cow, some goats and a very skittish but soft rabbit. Even after 2 decades, I am still afraid of goats after being butted by one at the Philadelphia zoo as a child -- just ask my mom!!

Eggstravaganza!

The boys' preschool hosts a large egg hunt which we attended the Saturday of Easter weekend. David had fun collecting eggs & candy that was strewn across the ground. They also had carnival games, a small petting zoo and tons more activities for the kids. Plus they got to meet the O2B Kids Bunny! Check out Luke's delight!!
